Meditation-1

Life is so busy..always. If we choose to relax for some time, it's for sure at the cost of something else that could be done. Our body and mind might choose to forget, but in this day and age there is never a situation where nothing else could be done. Or philosophically looking at it, there never was such a time.

But such time is important. Some time in the day where you just disconnect, or better yet, meditate. If a person as busy as Steve Jobs could find time for his long walks, so can you. It was a contributor for his success, and so will be the time you take off daily, for you.

It is in such times that man needs to introspect. Where am I, as a Jeeva (Life), heading. At these times, we let our individual souls (Jeevatman) connect to the universal soul (Parmatman). Our spiritual beliefs might vary, but every path concurs that each of us is special. We were created for a purpose. It was the universal soul that created each individual soul, for a purpose. Else Life needn't have been given a soul. And as humans, we were created with even more responsibility. Else we, like most other animals, wouldn't be given consciousness. The point I'm conveying is the need to reflect. On our actions, our thoughts, our direction, and sometimes maybe nothing. Just be receptive to any thoughts that come in, from the universal soul.

I can assure you'll see a difference. At the very outset, will be things you forgot to do during the day. Which is a sign that you just awoke your subconscious. Such thoughts while helpful have a tendency to distract us from the meditation. Might sound silly, but would be a good idea to keep a pen and paper next to you. Write down the reminder so you can resume meditation without the fear of forgetting it again.

Some advise the need to force your mind to an object, or the spot near the eyes (trinetra or third eye). Swami Vivekananda advised beginners to just stop worrying about all this. Let the thoughts flow. You'll see it flying aimlessly. Just don't get frustrated by it. Slowly bring them back to the present. At some point you will find your breath slowing. Realize it.  (to be cont)
